PledgesI dedicate a mile to my mother, Marlene Rogers who inspires me. She had breast cancer earlier this year, went through radiation treatments and throughout the entire time kept her positive attitude (MAINE).Jeannie BurgerPlease walk a mile in memory of my mother Eleanor Onofrio. My mother was the smartest and strongest person I knew. She only had a high school education but she knew how to handle every situation. She took care of her six children (all approximately a year apart), cooking, cleaning and comforting doing so with nothing but love and understanding. Our home was the favorite of the neighborhood kids because my mom was an excellent baker, she had hundreds of unique recipes for her special goodies. My mom suffered for almost 5 years with a brain tumor. She had a petite frame _ but was extremely strong-willed - my brother-in-law said she was tough as any Navy Seal. The pain and suffering she endured was unbearable to watch but she never complained or felt sorry for herself. She loved life and went about living as best she could even as her body deteriorated.Dara OnofrioMy dedication goes to my parents. This dedication is for my older sister Mimi, because until her life was cut short in April 2011, she paid it forward everyday. I wish I could describe my sister to you, but you honestly have to have known her to believe it. She danced like no one was watching. She loved almost everyone she met and went out of her way to make people feel smart, beautiful, important. People who had known her for only weeks were at her funeral because she had made such an impact on their lives with just a smile and a few words. throughout her life, I witnessed her selflessly give people money, clothes, food. I would tease her when she bought cuter clothes than me, and she would say "Oh take it" with no question. She was the most amazing mother I've ever known. Because she was 16 years older than me, she was truly my second mother, then a second mother to my three kids. I miss my sister so much everyday, but I have to be grateful for what she gave me, the wisdom she provided me, the beautiful person she was, and that I am a better woman because of her. Rest in Peace Mima, my sweet Angel, sister, confidant, mother, and friend."Mayra Guzman-RamosI dedicate this to my mom because of how strong she has been this year after finding out she has cancerSamantha Ann NegronMy dedication is for my mom and dad.
