When my father passed in 2002, my mother and I become closer than ever. She was my best, best friend. I told her EVERYTHING. She never judged me. She told me I was beautiful everday, and how much she loved me. I remember how she used to walk up to random pergnant woman on the street, grab their bellies, and tell them "You're so beautiful!". I was embarrassed at first, until she explained that sometimes woman feel tired and not very good about themselves when they are pregnant, and it helps to have someone remind them they are beautiful. Her smile was contagious; people would meet her for one minute, and they were never the same. I miss her and my dad so much, but I will always be their baby. This dedication is for my older sister Mimi, because until her life was cut short in April 2011, she paid it forward everyday. I wish I could describe my sister to you, but you honestly have to have known her to believe it. She danced like no one was watching. She loved almost everyone she met and went out of her way to make people feel smart, beautiful, important. People who had known her for only weeks were at her funeral because she had made such an impact on their lives with just a smile and a few words. throughout her life, I witnessed her selflessly give people money, clothes, food. I would tease her when she bought cuter clothes than me, and she would say "Oh take it" with no question. She was the most amazing mother I've ever known. Because she was 16 years older than me, she was truly my second mother, then a second mother to my three kids. I miss my sister so much everyday, but I have to be grateful for what she gave me, the wisdom she provided me, the beautiful person she was, and that I am a better woman because of her.
