Congratulations to Kathy Smith from Illinois who wins the Do-Gooder of the Month Award. Kathy’s acts of kindness are inspiring. Kathy – you ROCK! She accepted our Kindness Challenge and here’s her message to share what she has done to pay-it-forward.

“Here are a few things I’ve done this week for random acts of kindness. We have a food pantry in our county that started out helping about 40 families and today they help 400 families so there is a great need for their services. In addition to food, they accept clothes and anything that would help. I used to be a Mary Kay beauty consultant and in the past few years I would new products that Mary Kay introduced and I would order 2 or 3 of each of them just for myself. There are many I never liked and was planning on selling what stock I have left and just have not gotten around to doing it. So, I thought about your challenge and hoped something would come to mind. A few hours later I thought ‘Give your extra inventory to the food pantry’. You just don’t know how much fun I had putting the items together to give away. It felt like a weight was lifted off of me. The food pantry has an entryway that is always open for people to drop things off. After church on Sunday, I put my Mary Kay in the entryway along with several new shower gels, body lotions and some very nice clothes I don’t wear anymore. In total, the value of my donation exceeded $1,000. I plan to keep going through my clothes to get more ready to give to the food pantry. I also get coffee everyday at a Starbuck’s inside of a Target store. This week I made a point of being extra friendly to the people there that I came in contact with. I did the same at a Wal-Mart today when I shopped there. I guessing that this little extra kindness makes some people’s days and I will continue doing it everyday.”

Christine Baker, Founder of Walk4Good needs your help!

Dear Friends of Walk4Good:

We are in the process of scheduling many local and regional hikes for the spring, summer and fall – all to fulfill our mission of walking to inspire kindness. It’s an exciting time – not only are we still dedicated to our mission of walking 2,180 miles, but we are also dedicated to raising funds to help grow Walk4Good and to give support to individuals and local charities. Walk4Good received our 501(c)3 status a few months ago. This is great news and now means every dollar donated is tax-deductible.

We are in dire need of fundraising assistance. There are a few ways you can help:

1. Make a tax-deductible donation to Walk4Good. Click HERE to make a donation.

2. Consider asking your employer to become a corporate sponsor of Walk4Good. We have many different corporate sponsorship packages and we are also happy to create a customized package too. Click HERE to learn more.

3. You can make a specific individual donation package. Check them out HERE.

4. We need help on our Board of Directors. If you have corporate fundraising experience and you are interested in helping us, please contact us at info@walk4good.org.

Please continue to share the message of Walk4Good. Please continue to make dedications, donate money and practice kindness. We raised nearly $800 to help those affected by Hurricane Sandy. We gave every penny of that money back to the community shopkeepers who were closed down because of the hurricane by purchasing gift certificates and handing them out in some cases to people directly impacted by the hurricane.

Join our Facebook community. Share our message with your family and friends.
