I would like to dedicate a mile to my sister Lauren Peckler. Most of the things she does are always for others. She has traveled to places like India, Tanzania, and New Orleans to help those who are less fortunate. Also, our family treasures the gift of her being alive after a terrible car accident where she nearly lost her life.

For my grandmother's friend and for my grandmother. I will be more kind and respectful.

I dedicate a mile to my brother, Bill Whelan, who has blood cancer. Everyday, I will do an act of kindness.

I dedicate this to my family in Ecuador and all the families who havenêt seen their families because of distance.

My dedication goes to Abbe - a 10 year old girl. She survived cancer after a year of 56 treatments. Her determination throughout the year was fascinating.

My father John who battled numerous health issues his entire life, yet never felt sorry for himself, never complained. He recreated himself and dedicated his life to improving the lives of others. Of on my lifetime I succeed in becoming half the the person he was I will have achieved a great deal. I strive for this. Thank you Christine and Jessie for what you are doing.

Please walk a mile of the White Mountains in NH in honor of my sister Mary who was my hiking partner for years. She went missing while hiking in the Olympic National Park a few years ago and emerged nearly a week after she was expected. I am grateful for answered prayers and her determination. The woods would never be the same without her.

For my Dad who always was there for anyone and everyone. He loved life and helping and passed that down.......miss him.

I dedicate a mile to my family who stuck with me throughout my hard times in school, volleyball and with my diabetes.

To all kids with no homes and kids with cancer.

I dedicate this to my cousin Judith who looks after me and does everything in her power to make sure Iêm successful.

For my Uncle John who died last year of pancreatic cancer. I will do a kind thing for someone each day.

Please dedicate this mile to my dad. He is a landscaper who works long hours in the winter when itês very cold outside, and in the summer when itês hot.

Please walk a mile for my cousin Robbie. He is an 11 year-old boy with Down Syndrome who has taught me that no one should be treated differently because of something he canêt change.

Please walk a mile for my Dad who is always teaching me things all the time. At my track practice, I will help my coach bring things to the places where they need to be.

Please walk a mile in memory of my mother Eleanor Onofrio. My mother was the smartest and strongest person I knew. She only had a high school education but she knew how to handle every situation. She took care of her six children (all approximately a year apart), cooking, cleaning and comforting doing so with nothing but love and understanding. Our home was the favorite of the neighborhood kids because my mom was an excellent baker, she had hundreds of unique recipes for her special goodies. My mom suffered for almost 5 years with a brain tumor. She had a petite frame _ but was extremely strong-willed - my brother-in-law said she was tough as any Navy Seal. The pain and suffering she endured was unbearable to watch but she never complained or felt sorry for herself. She loved life and went about living as best she could even as her body deteriorated.

to my father, Gary Petry, for always being there for me and being the best dad and role model a daughter could ask for.

I am dedicating this mile to my mother, Mary. She raised 4 children as a single mother. She became a nurse and one of the first female paramedics in California. She taught us to be independent and fearless and to never give up. She remains a strong hiker and adventurer at the age of 78. I think she will provide you with alot of strength during this mile.

I dedicate a mile for my grandmother who was sick for a while and could not walk but now she can walk and I am glad to see that she is strong enough to fight the sickness and get back on her feet.

Please walk a mile in memory of my mom, Gloria Maron, died in 2011. She would have turned 81 on May 14. Mom made certain I knew I could accomplish pretty much anything with hard work, not slacking, and instilled independence and self confidence in all of her 4 kids. I will keep working to do the same with my own children, practicing the tough love mom recommended when necessary. I will pay it forward by continuing my work as a Board member of Furniture Sharehouse where on Friday, May 11 I will give a tour to introduce the work we do to community members. I dedicate a mile to my Great Grandmother, Evelyn Wilkes loving called Nannie by all. She was the sister to 11,Mother of 4,Grandmother of 20 and the Great-Great-Great Grandmother of hundreds. She is considered a pioneer in our family. I remember when president Clintons mother passed, she sent him a sympathy card; she was just that type of caring woman. She is known most for her cooking, she was the best. Within mins she could whip up a good meal to feed anyone including strangers. We miss u dearly! Shine on!

I dedicate a mile to my mother, Miriam Lenglet, and my father, Gerard Lenglet. I lost them both too soon in life, but the love and wisdom they gave me will last a lifetime. This week would have been their 31st anniversary; they had an enless, passionate love that you usually only see in the movies. Everyone wanted what they had. When my father passed in 2002, my mother and I become closer than ever. She was my best, best friend. I told her EVERYTHING. She never judged me. She told me I was beautiful everday, and how much she loved me. I remember how she used to walk up to random pergnant woman on the street, grab their bellies, and tell them "You're so beautiful!". I was embarrassed at first, until she explained that sometimes woman feel tired and not very good about themselves when they are pregnant, and it helps to have someone remind them they are beautiful. Her smile was contagious; people would meet her for one minute, and they were never the same. I miss her and my dad so much, but I will always be their baby. I am able to love fully because of them, and I am in love with a wonderful man. I can't wait to pass on everything they taught me to my own children. Thank you Mommy and Papi.

They supported me no matter what and gave unselfishly, and they continue to be there for me today. I am so blessed to have such fabulous parents and am grateful for their love and support everyday.

Please walk a mile in honor of my late father, Thomas. He was and will always be my inspiration. I know I have disappointed him and in return I will pay it forward by performing acts of kindness: holding doors, picking up dropped items.

I would like you to walk a mile in honor of my beautiful cousin Stacey, who died far too early last week at the age of 49. She was one of the kindest people I knew. I will volunteer at my local church to feed the homeless and help the other volunteeers when they spend the night at the church. I will also bring my girl scout troop to help as well.

Janine Corona - Rooney is the person I would like to dedicate a mile to; she a dear friend who has overcome so much in life and always done it with a smile on her face and a great attitude. She beat cancer, went back to school in her late 30's and got her degree in Nursing all while dealing with young children and a spouse that has a debilitating back condition.

I dedicate a mile to my dad who I lost when I was a little girl. I miss him so much. I will be more patient and understanting with people in general.

I dedicate a mile to my Nana Rosie. She died of breast cancer. I never got the chance to say goodbye.

He worked hard for my mother and her six siblings in the Philippines so that they could all be where they are today. He died at age 91 due to liver cancer and old age. I only hope to live a long and fruitful life the way he did with humility and respect for the beautiful world that we live in. His spirit will live on always through his children and grandchildren.
