She took care of her six children (all approximately a year apart), cooking, cleaning and comforting doing so with nothing but love and understanding. Our home was the favorite of the neighborhood kids because my mom was an excellent baker, she had hundreds of unique recipes for her special goodies. My mom suffered for almost 5 years with a brain tumor. She had a petite frame _ but was extremely strong-willed - my brother-in-law said she was tough as any Navy Seal. The pain and suffering she endured was unbearable to watch but she never complained or felt sorry for herself. She loved life and went about living as best she could even as her body deteriorated.

My dad was sent to me as a gift. He loved me unconditionally even though I was not his blood - he treated me like I was. He has an amazing love for his family, saw the wonder in a child's eye and fought for those who he had a deep care and admiration for. He gave us much and he is truly missed. Love you Daddy, Your Little Girl.
I would like to dedicate a mile to my mother who would have been whole-heartedly behind the intention of this movement. As a social worker, she dedicated her life to making sure that everyone was valued. From helping unwed, pregnant teens in Tennessee during the 1940's to advocating for neurologically challenged children she always worked for the good of others. She has been gone for many years but I still want to say, "Thanks, Mom, for your good example!"

I would like to dedicate my mile to my cousin, Michele. With her boundless energy and positive approach to life, she is a true inspiration that if you believe in yourself, you can accomplish whatever it is that you set your mind to do.
As part of my morning routine stop for coffee, I will greet everyone with a friendly smile and "good morning" and at random times buy a cup of coffee for the person behind or in front of me so that they can start their day on a positive note.

To my brother Jeff, he is probably one of the most loving, enduring, tenacious, and above all, excellent husband and father to his family. He is currently a survivor of throat cancer and I believe many could learn from him.

I dedicate a mile to my grandmother, Catherine Broderick. She passed away four years ago at 93 years old. She was the nicest person I have ever known and I miss her every day. She inspired me to be a better person and I pass her house every time I come home from school.
My dedication is to my Pop-Pop who died 11 years ago from Bladder Cancer. He was my best friend and biggest supporter. He was always there to listen and was ready to give a hug whenever it was needed.
Please walk a mile for my parents Louis and Julia who both passed away within the last two years. They were married nearly 70 years and I miss them both very much. I am volunteering at my church in their honor.
Please walk a mile in honor of my Grandma who passed away a few years ago. Please also walk for my Nonna who is aging and is slowly getting sick. I am going to help my sister with her college decisions and I will volunteer at my church.

I would like to dedicate a mile to my two grandmothers who passed away in 2007. They were both wonderful, kind and loving women who were exemplars to working women today. Mema was an elementary teacher and Nana was an operating room nurse. They always found time for their family, and lots of patience! I miss them both every day.
